About Me

My photo
Living close to what matters, I strive to remember that the greatest story of all is the one I am living and so to live full and well. This is certainly a work in progress!I am a mixed media artist, healer, mom, wife, muser, lover of the natural world. I am learning always about how to listen with care to what's inside that wants to be expressed, brought out into the light of day...to the stories and adventures of people I care about, and to the folks I share this world with, to honor life's impulses and flow and act to make real the dreams I hold within. I hope to share with you the journey of life, full of creative juice, magic, mystery, and the unexpected!

Ur Happy Place 10/13!

..try as i might to come up with a cohesive theme for u today it just hasn't happened soo..let's see where it takes us. let's call it: random..tapas for the soul..potpourri of the daily round.....above: a couple shots of the moleskine cover i started for my first ever altered journal. made lottsa books over the years but doing a journal seemed like such a commitment and so i just strayed away from it but tah dah! here it is:

and have u started to think about holiday gift giving? i have and this year mother nature and i are "making " gifts for friends nearby...basil..i live for fresh smells in the
winter when the sun is far away and i have absolutely no interest in going outside! so basil is the perfect, friendly, fragrant and refreshing herb to have in the kitchen..these are cuttings from our garden and they'll sprout roots just in time for the solstice...i'll paint a pot to put each cutting in and viola! a litttle something yumma--licious for my peeps.

ur happy place haiku:

i'm here there and everywhere

nothing wrong with that

how better to see it all

and now here's ken:

Good Morning, Ken was stuck this morning, (do you ever feel stuck, now there's a topic for another time)
didn't know what to write, so with help from Megan McDonough's book "Infinity in a Box" which was the first book I took from the shelves to inspire me, I share with you;
Changing a Pattern

Your awareness can be opened by changing how you do things, and you don't even have to deal with any of your perceived problems. Jean Houston who speaks and works on being creative talks about a childhood game that nearly always brings a good belly laugh.

First, start patting your head, then rub your belly, while doing this begin to hop, then maybe sing. It's quite silly, but Houston says it helps break old patterns and enables you to see new perspectives. Changing your daily patterns can be small, like listening to music instead of talk radio, or take a different route when driving somewhere, or maybe take a yoga class instead of running. Most of us are married to our habits. And, there is generally nothing wrong with our routines. But, maybe tea in lieu of coffee first thing in the morning will help strengthen our ability to be flexible when the stress of life becomes greater.

Doing these little things, like taking a different route to the shops may feel rather trivial, and even seem like adding more work to the long to do list you already have. But, by being curious, experiencing little things done differently will allow your mind to be more open and flexible to larger problems which could actually become a lifesaver. Einstein said, "problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them."

So, when you place your body into different yoga positions, you are changing routines. As an experiment examine how you sit for your morning tea or coffee? When waiting in line or standing somewhere like I do, do you favor the weight in one leg, or do one of your hips shift out in your stance. These body habits, like our minds habits build over time. Our bodies need a tune up, so do something that will help change your perspective on how you view the world. Stand with your weight on a different leg, join a Tai Chi class, maybe join me in Topsfield for yoga or after you read this go for a walk around the garden, but do it differently to the way you would normally do it.

Good luck with your pattern changing, allow the Universe to work with you as you experiment a little with life.

Om shanti, shanti, shanti

See what having a yoga class done to you looks like!

and here's a bit more on journaling...have u started urs yet..?
can't wait to put ur pics up here!

and my friend ingrid sings one of my fav. songs...wild woman....until next time..thinking of you..xx
